Anti-Microbial Effectiveness
The strongest testing and evaluation available to show effectiveness against pathogenic microorganisms is measured by Antimicrobial Effectiveness Test called USP Challenge Test. For a product to pass this test, the concentration of viable bacteria or fungi (yeast and mold) must be reduced to less than 0.1% of the initial concentration by the fourteenth day. LSC results were <10 colony forming units (cfu), due to limitation of test method, from the initial concentration of between 100,000 - 1,000,000 microorganisms, and it remained so for 28 days.
In performing this test, Laboratory Skin Care®, chose some of the toughest pathogenic test organisms available. For bacteria it chose E. Coli, Staph, Pseudomonas, and Salmonella, and for fungi it used a well-known yeast called Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger.
Hundreds of thousands of these pathogenic microorganisms were plated in tissue culture with suitable media (nutrient broth) to promote their ideal living conditions. Then LSC Anti-Microbial Product was added.
Both LSC Anti-Microbial Cleanser and LSC Anti-Microbial Moisturizer independently killed 99.99% of all these microorganisms. No viable bacteria and/or yeast were seen in 7, 14, and 28 days after complete elimination by each of LSC Product.
LSC Products pass USP <51> Antimicrobial Effectiveness Test - USP Challenge Test. Results are shown below.

LSC Products Kill Microorganisms Instantly on Contact
In order to show how fast LSC products work, the 28-day USP <51> Antimicrobial Effectiveness Test as described above was performed, using the same test microorganisms. The results were measured immediately after inoculation (exposure of 100,000 – 1,000,000 pathogenic microorganisms to each of LSC Anti-Microbial Moisturizer and Anti-Microbial Cleanser) at T=0 (less than one minute) and every 3 minutes thereafter for 30 minutes.
Both LSC Anti-Microbial Cleanser and LSC Anti-Microbial Moisturizer killed microorganisms instantly on contact. LSC Anti-Microbial Moisturizer completely eliminated E-coli in 12 minutes. Levels of Pseudomonas, Staph, and Salmonella were reduced by 90.2% in 6 minutes, 95.6% in 6 minutes, respectively. The LSC Anti-Microbial Cleanser met the USP <51> Antimicrobial Effectiveness Test requirements in 3 minutes for the Staph, 12 minutes for E.coli, and 15 minutes for Salmonella and Pseudomonas. Candida albicans, a difficult organism to kill, was reduced by 39.1% in LSC Anti-Microbial Moisturizer and 43.4% in LSC Anti-Microbial Cleanser in less than one minute (T=0). The test results clearly show that LSC Ant-Microbial Cleanser and LSC Anti-Microbial Moisturizer rapidly kill microorganisms on contact.
